The Indiana Heritage Quilt Show (IHQS) is a 501c(3) organization operated fully by a volunteer committee. It takes place annually the first weekend in March in Bloomington, Indiana. 2020 will be our 29th year of great quilt shows!
The show features workshops for beginners to advanced quilters, with well-known instructors teaching a variety of skills. There is a wide range of vendors at the show with fabrics and notions and numerous non-quilting merchandise as well. We host special fiber arts exhibits each year from around the country, as well as unique exhibits at local museums (with a free shuttle from the show).
Of course, the bulk of the show is made up of competitive quilt entries from around the county (and other countries as well!). Quilts of various categories are judged and awards are given to the top three entries in each category, plus Best of Show, Exemplary Quilting, and a variety of other prizes. Each year, around 200 quilts are entered, by quilters with a range of experience and expertise. It's a fantastic display of artistry and craftsmanship!
