*A Professional is defined as one who teaches quilt making as a profession, judges quilts, has written a book on quilt making, sells, designs or quilts as a profession, or has won monetary prizes for placement
awards in two or more competititons where each show’s total award value is $10,000 or higher. If any
person who worked on the entry is classified as a professional by this definition, the entry MUST be
entered in the professional category.

Critical Dates
- February 1, 2008 ENTRY DEADLINE. Entries CANNOT be postmarked later than this date.
- February 10, 2008 Shipping information packets received by entrants. If you have not received your packet by this date, e-mail entries@ihqs.org or phone 812-391-0009.
- February 22, 2008 All shipped entries must arrive at IHQS.
- February 25, 2008 All hand-delivered entries must be at IHQS.
March 1, 2008 Walk-in pickup of items at show site. Entries available 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. only. NO EARLY RELEASE OF QUILTS.
- March 3, 2008 All shipped entries delivered to FedEx Center.
Entry Rules
All rules apply to both Amateur and *Professional Entries.

- All persons involved in making the entry must be listed on the entry form. If not an original design, design credit must be given to the source.
- YOU determine the category and skill level in which your item will be entered.
a. Pieced: Piecing predominates over other techniques in amount or effect.
b. Wholecloth must be the traditional version containing only quilting and no other medium.
c. Fabric Art: Quilts created as art quilts, original design reflecting innovative construction and design techniques, theme or subject matter and/or materials. Quilts must be made of fabric, have three layers, and contain quilting.
d. Mixed Technique: A quilt where two or more major construction techniques are used to develop design of the top.
e. Wall Quilts: Includes any technique or combination of techniques that fall within size definitions.
f. Miniatures: Quilts must be small-scale quilts and can be a whole-cloth quilt. If pieced, maximum miniature block size is 5 inches.
- Each completed entry form must be accompanied by a non-refundable $10 entry fee. You may request that your quilt be displayed only and not judged. The $10 entry fee still applies.
- If you have an e-mail address we will send the shipping instructions by e-mail.
- If you want the shipping information mailed to you, you must include a Self-Addressed, Stamped, Business Size (#10) Envelope (SASE).
- Entry Form and the non-refundable entry fee must be postmarked by February 1, 2008. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. Since entries will be accepted in order of postmark date, be sure your envelope contains a postmark. We reserve the right to limit entries if space limitations require.
- No more than two (2) entries per category will be accepted for this show from the same person.
- Entry must not have been displayed in a previous Indiana Heritage Quilt Show.
- Entry may be constructed by hand, machine or both. It must not be made from a purchased, pre-cut kit. Entries must be made of three (3) layers of fabric and hand- or machine-quilted. No tied quilts will be judged or displayed.
- Entries must have been completed after January 1, 2004.
- Entry must not be soiled or damaged in any way.
- Entry must be permanently identified on the back.
- Entry must have a 4-inch sleeve secured at the top and bottom, to back of quilt. Miniatures must have at least a 2-inch sleeve secured at the top and bottom, to back of quilt.
- If there is no sleeve attached to the quilt it will not be displayed and returned immediately to the entrant.
- Quilt must be a single unit, NOT framed with wood, metal, etc.
- The Indiana Heritage Quilt Show reserves the right to reject any unqualified or misrepresented entry. All decisions of the judges are final. The IHQS is not a juried show.
- Shipped items must arrive at IHQS between Monday, February 18 and Friday, February 22, 2008.
- Each entry must be in a separate box.

- A certified appraisal for insurance purposes is needed if value of materials is more than $500.
Non-Refundable Entry Fee is $10.00 per entry. Each entry must be accompanied by an Entry Form,
Entry Fee, Self-Addressed, Stamped Business-Size Envelope if shipping instructions are to be
mailed. Shipping instructions will be e-mailed whenever possible. Entry Form and non-refundable
Entry Fee must be postmarked by February 1, 2008. If you have questions regarding contest rules,
