Entry #620 “Hummingbird” Irena Bluhm Little Elm, TX

"Hummingbird" by Irena Bluhm

Hummingbird started as a whole-cloth with the main design stitched using contrasting green thread.  I decided to add color to the whole quilt using colored pencils and a textile medium. after it returned from the first competition.  It was stitched on Gammill Optimum Plus and Gammill’s Design Center was used.

Entry #625 “My Soul – God’s Fertile Garden” Ann Horton

Redwood Valley, CA

"My Soul - God's Fertile Garden" by Ann Horton

Without question, God is the source of my creativity, love and life.  God provides the woven lattice of my soul, while I provide the bits of color, highlights and shadows that are my life’s experiences and choices.  Over my life, God’s plan and purpose become the fertile garden of His work—at once lush, mysterious and not easily understood.  The three butterflies symbolize the Trinity while the border represents eternity.

Source of Design:  Original.  Digitized embroidery from Husqvarna Viking Collection.

Made and Quilted By:  Ann Horton.

Entirely machine pieced, this quilt displays a high contrast of bold, vibrant colors.  Swarovski crystals are randomly placed for additional sparkle.  The back mirrors the front design beautifully with metallic thread on both sides.
