Entry #914 “Jardin du Soliel” Jacquelyn Chiddister Bloomington, IN

"Jardin du Soliel" by Jacquelyn Chiddister

The origami flowers and quilt background create the effect of warmth and beauty found in a sunlit garden.  Exotic fabrics and vivid color combinations enhance this effect.  A little whimsy and a love of unique fabrics inspired the designer to create this quilt.

Source of Design:  Original with flower(s) directions taken from Kumiko Sudo’s “Fabulous Flowers”.

Made and Quilted By:  Jacquelyn Chiddister.

Entry #902 “Prairie Compass …Worth Two Complements” Kathleen L. Carlson Bridgeton, MO

"Prarie Compass...Worth Two Complements" by Kathleen L. Carlson

My adaptation of a quilt appearing in “Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine”.  I love reds, greens AND appliqué—so this quilt had everything!  I added some blue and orange giving the quilt two sets of complementary colors instead of one!  I also eliminated the border from the original design.  Hand and machine appliquéd, paper pieced, machine pieced, machine embroidered, hand beaded and machine quilted.

Source of Design:  “Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine” 2005, No’s 374, 375, 376 and 377.  Original quilt design credited to Nancy Rink of Bakersfield CA.

Made and Quilted By:  Kathleen L. Carlson
