Pieced Professional, First Place

Entry #402 "24/7" Rachel Wetzler St. Charles, IL

24/7 by Rachel Wetzler   I cannot be seen, heard, felt, smelled or tasted. History records my passing. I am time. Find the rings symbolizing 60 seconds/minutes, 365 days, 25 world time zones. Clock faces declare the hours. Look for the four seasons, leap year and words quilted in outer space.

Pieced Professional, Second Place

Entry #403 "Stars of the Inland Sea" Claudia Clark Myers Duluth, MN

Stars of the Inland Sea by Claudia Clark Myers

This quilt incorporates three traditional bocks, Split LeMoyne Feathered Star, Sunburst and Storm-at-Sea and was paper pieced by 18 quilters in the Duluth/Twin Cities area. It will be the raffle quilt for the Minnesota Quilters' Duluth Show in 2005. It was designed and assembled by Claudia Clark Myers and machine quilted by Karen McTavish.

Pieced Professional, Third Place

Entry #408 "Asante Sana Jesu" Patricia Pepe Creston, CA

Asante Sana Jesu by Patricia Pepe   Asante Sana Jesu is Swahili for "Thank you very much, Jesus". I made it following my husband's trip to Kenya where he worked with the Masai people. The back is made from a khanga, the traditional clothing of the Masai women. The design is a variation of the kaleidoscope block. The border is entirely pieced. Hand quilted with 4½ spools of thread; trapunto, beading and painting.

Pieced Professional, Honorable Mention

Entry #421 "Meg's Pinwheel" Meg Lagodzki Indianapolis, IN

Meg's Pinwheel by Meg Lagodzki   Trained as a painter, this was my first attempt at quilt making. Three years in the making, it started as a throw pillow (no pattern) and grew organically over many months. I wasn't sure it was a bed quilt until I added the borders! Quilted by Cathy Franks.
