Fabric Art Professional, First Place

Entry #628 "X-Ray du Soleil" Sue Gilgen Madison, WI

X-Ray du Soleil by Sue Gilgen   Through an x-ray telescope, you can see the sun - a powerful, explosive and undulating sphere. To finally look upon it is amazing. To create it in fabric was daunting and challenging. This sun-scape required hand-dyed fabrics, colorful threads, and new techniques!

Fabric Art Professional, Second Place

Entry #602 "Transitions" Carol Taylor Pittsford, NY

Transitions by Carol Taylor

This series of quilts is made by using randomly cut small pieces of hand-dyed cotton sateen fabric to create a textured surface. The pieces are enhanced by appliquéing a shape, such as a circle or square, in the center of each piece. The artist then creates a composition. Using the small appliquéd pieces in various combinations, the series has evolved into 17 works. My entry for the Indiana Heritage Show is "Transitions". Transitions is an infinity of confetti shapes with an off-center white area transitioning to cool colors on one side and warm colors on the other side and held together by random free motion embroidered shapes to continue the color flow. In other words, the "transition" between colors.

Fabric Art Professional, Third Place

Entry #627 "River Run" Cassandra Williams Grants Pass, OR

River Run by Cassandra Williams   In Oregon our fishermen thrill to see the seasonal "river run" of spawning salmon and trout. Now my fisherman can see them "run" year around! The first were "built" in our travel trailer while my husband fished the Gulf of Mexico.
